Weakened Friends power into Austin!

With an exciting new album, sold out shows here in the US and a tour in the EU in the wings, Portland, ME's Weakened Friends power into Texas this week to play their very first Outlaw Roadshow. Find out for yourself what folks on the East Coast already know - this is one of the most exciting acts in music today!

Named the best unsigned band in New England in 2017 by the Boston Music Awards, Weakened Friends have made lots of glorious noise the last three years. Their new album, Common Blah (Don Giovanni Records) saw the band (Sonia Sturino, Annie Hoffman, and Cam Jones) offering a more expansive look at this the marvelous rock band's promise. This is some seriously catchy and angsty vibes.

It's Brett Newski's World - and we live in it!

Writing a music blog and having your own traveling, festival-style music event has spoiled me. I love sharing acts with quirky live sets and amazing backstories and this platform lets me do whatever it is I want. That twisting road brings us to today's spotlight artist. An artist who is just perfect for us and this time. Excited as all heck to share that Brett Newski is the latest act to join the Outlaw Roadshow!

Daytrotter called Brett Newski and The No Tomorrow - "the loudest acoustic act" they had ever seen. Praise has rained down from the likes of Rolling Stone, WXPN, The Boston Globe and more. But truth be told, the Milwaukee songwriter is a self-effacing storyteller and a quirky, unrepentant artist. Those qualities have driven him to shares his moments on the road with friends and fans alike with video chats and timeline updates. Music that embraces - even when it's not playing. All of it reveals a unique mind and a special kind of creative heart.

IN HIS OWN WORDS - Known by many as the first band ever to be kicked out of Wal-Mart for playing an illegal show, Brett Newski has certainly kicked his own ass over the past 6 years, touring infinitely (mostly alone) and wandering down the rabbit hole of anxiety, depression, and wallowing self-doubt. All of these negatives have blossomed into positive creative energy on his third LP."Anxiety can actually be a good thing. If you use it right, that nervous energy can be channeled into motivation or creativity," explains Newski. "Even the most seemingly confident people have self doubt."

New This Week: Brett has released a killer Beck cover. Head over to Spotify and love the wicked, "Devil's Haircut." And catch him with The Outlaw in Austin. Definitely someone you need to know!

The Tenders have joined The Outlaw Roadshow

Each year The Outlaw Roadshow has a few acts that lift off the page in a really fun, new way. Typically it's a band with a larger than life stage presence. Sometimes it's a band about to release a new album. The focus that dedicated playing brings out something larger than life. Today's spotlight artist has both of those things going along.

Meet The Tenders - a stylish, standout East Nashville garage rock band on the verge of releasing a collection of dark surf songs! Your ears and your eyes are not going to believe this...

In Their Own Words - With members originally hailing from the twin cities, the land of OZ, and the Florida swamps, The Tenders "sound" embodies a fusion of blues-rock, dark surf, garage, and rockabilly. Comprised of Tracy Jean (drums), Ariel Isa (bass), and Marco Argiro (vocals, guitar) the group formed at the end of 2017 with the intention of going wild and helping do away with the cookie cutter, overproduced sound that has become the norm these days.

-The Tenders play The Outlaw Thu, Mar 14th at 1:30pm
-The Tenders release a brand new surf rock EP "Rager At Party Beach" Fri April 5th via Outright Rock Records
-The Tenders will also be supporting The Coathangers that same day Friday 4/5 @ The Exit/In Nashville, TN.

The Evening Attraction (Chicago) will play The Outlaw Roadshow!

Super excited to announce Chicago rock band The Evening Attraction have joined this year's lineup in Austin and will play a free set for folks at one of the cities most celebrated BBQ houses. Offering soaring harmonies and psychedelic haze, the five-piece have been likened to great 1960s music pioneers. What's old is new once again as the psychedelic haze and guitar of many of those acts has re-entered the pantheon of indie rock. Get ready to be moved!

The Evening Attraction made their debut in 2014 with a 10 track LP, Almost Desperate. Over the course of the next three years, Miles MalinPaul AnsaniNick TumminelloJoey Abaroa and Ryan Flynn—affectionately known as TEA—would release 4 singles, including ‘The Kids Don’t Care’, a 45” vinyl release on boutique Dallas label Classic Waxxx Records in the summer of 2016. 2018 saw the release of the band’s second LP, The End, Again, recorded at Chicago’s own Treehouse Records. You're listening to the first single off their new album out later this year!

VOLK have jumped into The Outlaw Roadshow lineup in Texas!

You ever listen to something and just knew that it felt perfect, right from the get-go? Well meet VOLK. The music from the Nashville duo have been called "lightning-charged," "spunky and soulful." And their beloved sets (there were 200 of them in 2018) have earned the band praise both musically and professionally. What caught my ear was their joy in making all that music. A musician with a smile on their face and a little devil in their eyes is someone I need to know. We're so glad you're along for the ride!

Since settling for greener pastures in Nashville in 2017, VOLK (Eleot Reich and Chris Lowe) have also toured Germany, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Canada. The duo released their sophomore EP, Average American Band through Romanus Records in November and they’ve already sold out of their first pressing!

Don Babylon join The Outlaw Roadshow Lineup in Austin, TX!

Foul! is the name of the new album from Philadelphia's Don Babylon - one of my favorite additions to this year's Outlaw Roadshow in Austin. This band's going to put you into a glorious haze of sound. The trio; Aubrey Neeley, Leland Bickford, and David Gaither, first came to my notice during their tour with Car Seat Headrest - band who challenged and enthralled audiences in Austin during festival season.

Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Don Babylon churned out drunk, sad rock'n'roll in between kitchen shifts and last call. That was, until they moved to Philadelphia. The music they produce is simple emotive fun but it's also dark, sardonic and witty. Their syncopated delivery and growling exterior I suspects hides some real sweathearts. Super excited to have Don Babylon with us.

Wanderwild joins The Outlaw Roadshow!

Wanderwild, welcome to the party! The Outlaw Roadshow is excited to announce that Athens, Georgia's sons have joined our lineup in Austin (Mar 13-17). Have a listen to their new song, "Platinum." Love this band and couldn't be more delighted to have them with us!

Wanderwild started as the work of project brainchild Matt Martin who brought in Wes Gregory (drums) and Taylor Cotton (bass guitar) to perform live. The results have been magic. This is definitely someone you need to know. Album out in April.
