Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings - Midnight Rider
HAPPY DEVIATIONS - I was moving through the television lineup like a hungry tiger this weekend when I caught the end of an automobile commercial featuring the sensational Sharon Jones. Turns out the sponsor spot was for Lincoln and the song was "Midnight Rider."
For those who don't know - who have not perhaps witnessed Sharon Jones, she is a wonder. A human light-bulb on stage. One of my all-time favorite live performers and perhaps not of this Earth... I kid with you of course, but she is a light and for those who need it, her music can be anything. The Dap Kings have proved to be one of the most focused bands in the business. And all of this, I remind you, during and throughout the woman's courageous fight with cancer.
Imagine my surprise when I went in and found there was a whole live performance to share with you. I'm delighted to start this week out with a little magic. Hope you'll join me on this one...
