Spoon - No Bullets Spent

I'm listening to the new Spoon and it's really, really good. (Hopefully you are now too.) I was up with the light today and I'm essentially dead right now - at least in terms of energy level, and Britt Daniel is still making an impact. [Envision me looking down at near-autonomic toe twitching right now (signs of life) and even my skepticism is impressed.] It's hard to look at the forthcoming "Best Of" album (July 26) as anything more than another shot fired by one of the great bands in America today. 

When Indie Pop was all the rage, there was Spoon. When it was time to turn the page and bring guitar into rock, Spoon was there. There's plenty of irony in Spoon songs and lots of kick in their drum. I love them more with the passing time as my ears age and learn. No Bullets Spent is the last song on the Everything Hits At Once (July 26). Perfect thing today to get me moving. 

Spoon are Britt Daniel, Jim Eno (drums) Alex Fischel (keyboard) and Gerardo Larios (guitar). Tour dates follow below. Man I wish they were the headliner on this tour. I'm all about catching them but I really would like to see an arching, double-length set with band playing songs off the last dozen or so years of my life.
