New FIELD REPORT
This new video for "Home (Leave the Lights On)" stars Field Report's Chris Porterfield, along with his old Ford pickup truck and a gorgeous but bleak landscape. "The body remembers what the mind forgets," Porterfield reminisces..
Field Report's sophomore record, Marigolden (Oct 7) looks to contain a number of references to the inevitable tolls taken by the passage of time, and prolonged distance from home and loved ones. If this story is autobiographical it could be talking about Porterfield's time spent on the road since 2012 - when the band's Partisan record debut appeared, a time period that saw them debut at The Outlaw Roadshow Austin. And then taken on the national tour of the same name with Counting Crows. That would be followed by even more dates with Aimee Mann, then solo dates, then more in support..The band has done nothing but play on the road - and clearly, Porterfield has been writing. The new stuff is sounding truly epic though and the band in inevitably all the better for their hard work and dedication.
ABOUT THE VIDEO - Directed by Black Box Visuals, the gorgeous scenes of summer in the Midwest are a character in and of themselves, setting a backdrop for Chris as he wearily drives from place to place, evocative of the song's lyrical themes.
