Gauntlet Hair

ONE TO WATCH

FOR THIS VIDEO - "We wanted to create a darker piece, utilizing locations all over the city of Chicago," writes video Director Ryan Ohm. "Together, I think we created an atmospheric, eerie film that leaves the viewer with a strange sense of uncertainty, not sure how to feel. As DIY oriented filmmakers we embraced the guerilla shooting style, venturing quickly from one location to the next, shooting on the subway on the sly, and digging the adventure the whole time."

THIS IS GAUNTLET HAIR - The band's second album, STILLS, will be released July 16 on Dead Oceans. Recorded in Portland, Oregon's "The Cave" studio and produced by Jacob Portrait (Unknown Mortal Orchestra), the album reveals Gauntlet Hair's deep affection for goth industrial and post-punk music that influenced them. My first run in with them band came two years ago this month as I caught them in a particularly stellar NXNE lineup in Toronto; with Deerhoof, No Joy, and Dodos. (Whew!) Probably one of my three favorite nights of the festival. Since then we've watched the band grow to the point where we find them today: an ever more influential mover and shaker on the international indie scene. A handful of summer tour dates have already been announced..
