HACIENDA will close the Outlaw Roadshow!
Confirmed to Play!
The Outlaw Roadshow is my way of making the seemingly impossible, happen. Each year I come up with a short list of artists I really want to work with. And once I set my mind on the task, I work extraordinarily hard to line up these possibilities. Whether it be the Roadshow in New York or in Austin, there's always one "must have." This year, my artist objective was HACIENDA - the band I feel is responsible for the best record of 2012. Shakedown, the band's third full length, produced by Dan Auerbach. It's practically perfect, a breakout effort tinged with elements of classic rock, gorgeous guitars and piano, and '70s Soul.
The first time I saw Hacienda play was in 2009. The quartet (along with Patrick Halahan) were performing as "The Fast Five" - the backing band for Auerbach on his Keep It Hid record tour. To date, that show is burned into my memory as one of the best I have ever seen. Hacienda has gone on to tour with The Black Keys, The Greenhornes, Dr. Dog, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Alberta Cross and My Morning Jacket. Formed by cousins Abraham Villanueva (piano/vocals) and Dante Schwebel (guitar/vocals), together with Abraham's brothers Jaime (drums/vocals) and Rene Villanueva (bass/vocals), this Mexican-American quartet blends a raw yet sophisticated style of pop music with harmonies reminiscent of the Beatles and Beach Boys.
