The best part of being a music writer, sometimes, is that every now and again I get to help those bands celebrate their big days. It is with great pleasure that The Outlaw Roadshow confirms the addition of We Are Augustines. It's already been a whirlwind year of amazing international audiences for Billy McCarthy, Eric Sanderson and Rob Allen. (I felt so much pride when they played Letterman!) And, with an award-winning record and invitations to Coachella (US), Hurricane and Southside (Germany), Bonnaroo (US), Latitude (UK), Bilbao BBK (Spain), T in the Park (UK) this little trio could be one of the hottest acts on the planet right now.
I remember sharing Rise Ye Sunken Ships (best of 2011 - album review) with Adam and he was instantly mesmerized, as have countless others ever since. One of the most magical moments of my SxSW this year was this memory of seeing We Are Augustines, captured oh so brilliantly by Mr. Duritz in American Songwriter... I think there were 200 people in that room having religious experiences that night.
