Marina and the Diamonds
The Paradise in Boston, MA - 9/1/10

ON THE SCENE - UK darlings Marina and the Diamonds arrived in Boston this week just in time to relaunch the beloved Paradise. We thought it made sense to talk to someone familiar with the club. We got a brief review out of it as well.

"The stage has been moved a few meters toward the front of the building making the trademark pole formerly directly in front of center stage now nicely off to the side," said Corey Moses, Lights - at the Paradise. "There’s much more room on the floor as a rear bar has been removed so the floor is open to the back wall as well as more room on the right side of the stage. Overall, the renovation appears to have created a larger room while keeping the Paradise’s characteristic and trademark charm." This is one change - and re-opening that all of concert-going Boston has been anxiously anticipating. They were rewarded..

Marina and the Diamonds entertained a diverse, cross-generational audience. She made quite an impression right from the start... "Marina came on the stage dressed in a kinda’ dark vampire/evil little red riding hood attire..," Moses said, "with hot pink lipstick."

"Marina's music touched on sounds we’ve become familiar with from the new electro-pop scene," said Moses. "It's the sound we’ve seen grow in popularity crossed with singer/songwriter charm reminiscent of Regina Spektor."

A comparison I think Marina might not mind at this point in her promising career.
