"Sharon Jones is a pleasure to see live," writes photographer Emma Dessau in her notes. "Watching her strut the stage with the backing Dap Kings at Newport was like witnessing a soul revival, full of life and passion." Emma snapped live images for RSL all weekend - and in doing so we also got to someone to the performances for the very first time.
"The dancer-friendly zone set up right in front was packed to the brim with two-stepping, hand clapping fans. As Sharon worked it, she gave the late James Brown a run for his money," says Dessau. "I could not have had more fun photographing her. Talk about something to work with!"
