Ra Ra Riot is vocalist Wes Miles, bassist Mathieu Santos, guitarist Milo Bonacci, violinist Rebecca Zeller and cellist Alexandra Lawn. The Orchard marks the band’s first time being joined in the studio by drummer Gabriel Duquette, who has toured with the band since the release of The Rhumb Line.

The Orchard follows up Ra Ra Riot’s debut album, The Rhumb Line, which was released two years earlier (almost to the day) and immediately hailed as “a blissful chamber-pop breakthrough” in a 4-star Rolling Stone review (who named it the #38 album of 2008)

Editor's Note: I am totally looking forward to new material from Ra Ra Riot - they just keep getting better. But, uh, guys - when are you going to actually name Gabriel a member of the band with a full share? For the uninitiated, Duquette's a tremendous drummer and he makes each player in Ra Ra Riot sound all the better. The proof is in the pudding. Having seen the band play about 7 or 8 times now, they have rewritten and rerecorded some of the older tracks to take advantage of their drummer's skills. I would love to have Gabriel Duquette in my band.

footnote: Ra Ra Riot founding member, Drummer John Pike died in a tragic drowning accident in 2007 - just as the band (which had formed in Syracuse, NY a year earlier) was beginning to celebrate its early success.
