Echo & the Bunnymen will play Intimate Boston Show

Echo and the Bunnymen @ Great Scott in Allston

TICKETS ON SALE at 10am
SOLD OUT in just minutes!

I write these words with a forced hand today, but that's a good thing as you are about to see. I was preparing a music post on Liverpool, England's post-punk legends Echo & the Bunnymen who will play Boston at the roomy House of Blues in late November. Then came yesterday's news that Fenway Studios are bringing the band to town a little early: On October 18th, Echo & The Bunnymen will make an exclusive stop on their international tour to play a rare and intimate Fenway Sessions show at favorite local hotspot Great Scott in Allston. Those tickets go on sale at 10am today - and will sell out. (This information is still so new that the show information is still not up on the band's website calendar or myspace page.) Though $35 is a steep pricetag, this one will certainly prove to be a concert to remember (certainly the smallest, most intimate Echo and the Bunnymen show of the entire 2009 tour.) Ticket purchases are limited to two per person - will call only - to avoid ticket scalping. If you have the scratch and you love great live music, this one's a no-brainer.

Echo & the Bunnymen will release their first full-length album in four years, "Fountain" on October 12th - you should be able to pick a copy up a this show.

The Fenway Recordings Sessions launched in early 2003 by Fenway Recordings founder Mark Kates to help brand the label and its artists, and offer a great Boston night for friends and intriguing new artists to play. Since then, the Fenway Sessions have brought some of the best new acts from around the world to the heart of Allston. Dozens of significant artists like Editors, The Ting Tings, MGMT, Klaxons, Diplo, Bat for Lashes, The Cribs, Hot Chip, CSS, Cold War Kids, and Grammy Award winners Wolfmother have all come through the doors of Great Scott for Fenway Sessions. Most of these were New England debuts.
