4 Ways to Be Entertained

Matthew King rocks an RSL Music Shirt at Church on May 29th
In what could prove to be one of the most entertaining lineups of the late summer here in the city unfolds tonight at the Middle East. (I actually have no idea as to set order. Show up early tonight to see all the acts - Doors are 8pm, Music starts at 9pm.)
First and foremost this is a CD release party of epic proportions. Golden Bloom is releasing one of the best albums of 2009 tonight. "Fan the Flames" (RSL BEST OF 2009 pick) is intelligent rock with pop leanings, drawing crowds of kids who want to feel good about themselves AND their music. [Ed.'s Note: We unleashed a new track from the album and interviewed Golden Bloom front man Shawn Fogel - who has his own performance career - recently. Here's the Q&A with a new mp3 to download and enjoy!]

Also on the bill tonight are Boston standouts Gene Dante and the Future Starlets, who have proven themselves time-and-again to be one of the most exciting live acts on the East Coast this year. We haven't had the opportunity to see Gene and the band play since the 2009 Rock 'n Roll Rumble (RIP Rumble sponsor 104.1fm WBCN) so we will definitely be looking forward to their performance tonight!

A Party's just not a Party without The Lights Out. Living rock legends here in the Boston scene, this fearsome foursome put on one of the best live shows we have ever seen (about six times over the last year now - as we have sought them out. And with good reason: They Rock.)
From talking to the guys I know The Lights Out have been in the studio and writing new material. We are kind of excited for them and would love to see what comes next.

Tonight also marks a very high-profile musical debut for a local super act called The Future Everybody. There's been a lot of chatter about them, largely since most folks in the scene are either in bands with these folks or they are close friends. (Us included - we know these guys and expect great things.) That being said - we will reserve the full RSL seal of approval until after the show unfolds but as far as debuts go, this one's pretty damn exciting!
