Welcome to the Canadian Counter Culture! Wolf Parade, at the core of this movement, have been one of my favorite bands for the last three years. Related, Handsome Furs (click for videos), are certainly a bit more than a spin-off project - they carry much of the same creativity and howl thanks to Dan Boeckner - who is a member in both bands. The last two-and-a-half years have been a flurry of fiery creativity for Boeckner who has worked with Wolf Parade's Spencer Krug to pen and perform songs from two (sensational) albums.
Boeckner's Handsome Furs side work with wife Alexei Perry has been anything but boring. There too, Broeckner has stormed the castle gates... Handsome Furs have released two records as well: Plague Park (RSL Best of 2007 Selection) and 2009's Face Control have proven this dynamic duo to be much more than a passing fancy.
