Videodrome Spotlight :: LANGHORNE SLIM

VIDEODROME SERIES: Amidst the dozens and dozens of live music shows I saw in 2008... And all the friends I made and the hundreds of handshakes and thousands of memories, a few darling events leap out from the others. One of those magical nights involved a truly standout performance at TT the Bears in Cambridge. One of the best musical lineups I have ever seen starring Those Darlin's, The Heartless Bastards and Langhorne Slim. Seriously, it doesn't get much better than that. Truth be told, there's a part of me that travels back that way - every time I hear Langhorne Slim's songs.

Langhorne Slim

This is far from the first time we have featured Slim in these pages... [Langhorne Slim - Restless and 20 Albums You Need To Own in 2008...] and it most certainly won't be the last. We continue the Videodrome series (great musical videos from stellar contemporary acts) with a few clips from Langhorne Slim. We hope you enjoy!

If you haven't heard them yet, there are some great live sessions at http://www.hearya.com/live-sessions/ You'll find Langhorne Slim, Those Darlins and Heartless Bastards there. My favorite session there might be Justin Townes Earle (Steve's son).

I'm still kicking myself for missing Those Darlins at TOAD and Heartless Bastards at Great Scott.

That Heartless Bastards show (the one at Great Scott) was unbelievable too! I'm sure you saw this Jeff, but just in case you didn't (and for everybody else,) here's our coverage of that night.

Yeah I missed the show, but saw the post. Hence, the kicking...

I have seen HB before, when they had the the old line-up and were from Cincinnati. They opened for Lucinda Williams at the Orpheum. Erika was still the star and they put on a good set.

The next must-see on my calendar is Lucero at Paradise (4/16). Anyone else going?

It's already in my calendar, I will definitely be at Lucero! There will be a promotional post beforehand. Hopefully we will stir up a crowd!

As for HB, did you know that the current lineup (the big three) are the original recording lineup? So if you liked the old recordings, you were listening to these guys the whole time! The Bastards have since added another guitarist, but the original recording lineup has returned!
