NY Concertgoers Get A New Live Summer Hot Spot

Saying Goodbye to McCarren Park Pool... The New York Times and several other online media outlets are celebrating the decision to use "a strip along the East River between North Eighth and North Ninth Streets that was designated a New York State park a few years ago will have concerts this summer, with room for 6,000 fans." (Times)

ALL SUMMER LONG: The new summer Hot Spot on the Williamsburg waterfront takes over for Brooklyn's McCarren Pool (50,000 sq-feet of brick reverberating indie rock) where bands have performed both officially and quite unofficially for the last few years. City types are actually turning the abandoned pool back into a swimming hole (imagine) - which was great news for local folks on hot summer days but it displaced concertgoers. The show, always, goes on. Expect bigger crowds at the new location. Check out what the Times had to say, then check in on Brooklyn Vegan and Brooklyn Ski Club.
