CARNIVAL ROCK from NASHVILLE: Named after a local bank teller, Nashville's Darla Farmer have a totally vibrant outlook and are seemingly in constant motion. With elements from the four corners and some pretty cool instrumentation - the band's debut release, "Rewiring The Electric Forest," (released this week on Paper Garden) deserves your attention and further exploration from this music blogger!
The band reports have influences as far flung and diverse as Cursive, Blood Brothers and Tom Waits. On Rewiring the Electric Forest, forces combine and Darla Farmer creates an entirely distinctive, yet oddly universally appealing sound. Playing the SxSW Music Festival in Austin next month, this is one band to watch in '09.
