It's not the album of the year, by far, but it is decent.

A review of the soundtrack, the movie and the music used in the movie (different from the soundtrack) are here.
cheers

it's unfair that Frank Black (Black Francis, or whatever he's calling himself now!) did not get to do a song on that soundtrack. just unfair.

With the tracks released for promotion until now, I must say I prefer the original(s). The worst I've heard so far is Stevens' 'Ring Them Bells', which has become sugar coated and pocorn soft and sentimental in tone and arrangement, so unlike the raw passion, intensity and brilliant frasing of the original album track. 'All along the Watchtower' falls completely flat i.m.o. Looking forward to hear Willie Nelson do 'Senor'. :)
love, Ursie

I couldn't agree more on the Stevens cover of Ring Them Bells, Ursie. What a let down! - But the rest of the album has so much promise! Tweedy's pretty great. I agree with D... I would love to hear Frank play a Dylan song here! (Just think Honeycomb or Fast Man, Raider Man.)
